Lip or Chin Threading / Waxing is a quick and effective hair removal treatment designed to remove unwanted facial hair from the upper lip or chin area. This treatment helps leave the skin smooth, clean, and well-groomed.

Threading involves using a twisted cotton thread to gently remove hair from the root, providing precise hair removal that is ideal for delicate facial areas. Waxing is another effective method where warm wax is applied to the skin and removed quickly, pulling unwanted hair out from the root.

Both methods provide longer-lasting results compared to shaving, helping maintain smooth skin for several weeks. The treatment is quick, minimally uncomfortable, and commonly chosen for maintaining neat and polished facial grooming.

Who Is This Treatment For?

This treatment may be suitable for individuals who:

• Want to remove unwanted facial hair from the lip or chin area

• Prefer longer-lasting hair removal compared to shaving

• Want smooth and clean skin

• Are looking for a quick and simple beauty treatment

• Want to maintain well-groomed facial appearance

Threading and waxing are suitable for most skin types and are commonly chosen for precise facial hair removal.

Why Choose Threading or Waxing?

• Removes hair from the root

Hair is removed from the root, helping results last longer than shaving.

• Smooth and clean finish

Leaves the skin looking neat, smooth, and well-groomed.

• Quick treatment

The procedure typically takes 5–10 minutes.

• Precise hair removal

Threading allows accurate shaping and removal of fine facial hairs.

• Longer-lasting results

Results can last 3–4 weeks, depending on hair growth.

AfterCare

Avoid Wearing Make-Up

Clients should refrain from applying make-up for at least 24 hours following treatment. This gives the skin time to recover and reduces the risk of product entering the injection sites, which could cause irritation or infection.

Delay Additional Treatments

Although patients may wish to enhance their results with further procedures, it’s important to allow the skin adequate time to heal. Additional treatments should be postponed for a minimum of two weeks. If visiting another practitioner, clients must inform them of their recent treatment, as the skin may remain more sensitive than usual.

Maintain Hydration

Encourage clients to drink plenty of water after treatment. Many skin boosters contain hyaluronic acid (HA), which attracts and retains moisture. Staying hydrated helps to optimise and prolong the treatment’s benefits.

Limit Sun Exposure

Direct sun exposure should be avoided immediately after treatment, as it can increase inflammation and compromise the healing process. If sun exposure is unavoidable, clients should apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and wear protective clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat.

Avoid Excessive Heat

Activities that expose the skin to high temperatures - such as saunas, steam rooms, or very hot showers - should be avoided during recovery. Excess heat can worsen swelling, bruising, and irritation.

Steer Clear of Certain Substances

Alcohol, smoking, and certain medications (such as ibuprofen) can increase the likelihood of swelling and bruising due to their effects on blood flow. Clients should avoid these for at least 24 hours post-treatment. For suitable pain relief options, they should consult a pharmacist.

Minimise Pressure and Touching

The treated area should be handled gently. Clients should avoid applying pressure - such as lying directly on the area - and refrain from unnecessary touching for at least 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection.

Pause Strenuous Exercise

Intense physical activity should be avoided for 24 hours after treatment, as increased blood flow and perspiration may contribute to additional swelling or bruising. Light activities, such as gentle walking, are generally acceptable.
